SALT LAKE CITY — Amazon is slated to move into Utah in the next year and Salt Lake City said they expect the online giant to bring at least 1500 jobs with them.

City Economic Development Director, Lara Fritts, said six other areas tried to nab the project, but Utah won out when they promised to make the quick build a reality. In area filled with marsh and desert, Fritz owes much of their success to the new prison the state is building nearby.

“It’s valuable because of the infrastructure that’s coming along with it.” Fritz said, explaining that without the prison this would have been a very expensive project. “Especially when you are building it on the futhermost site on the Northwest quadrant. You have to bring the utility all the way out to the site.”
