SALT LAKE CITY — This hot and dry summer is making Utahns use a lot of water on their lawns.

Bart Forsyth, assistant general manager of the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy district, says they are seeing record deliveries this June and July.

One issue is that the systems can’t keep up with delivering all the water that people are using on their lawns.

Forsyth says they still recommend people water only about every other day, before 9 or 10 am and after 6 pm.

“It is now considered taboo to water during day,” he said.

Forsyth says if you think you have dry spots, hand water those, and make sure you have no broken sprinkler heads unknowingly wasting water.
