WEBER COUNTY – Family members of one of the couples killed in Wednesday’s plane crash on I-15 say the support from the community has been overwhelming.
Cori Payne is the sister of Sarah Huffaker. She says her sister, and her brother-in-law Perry Huffaker, were known to be funny and friendly people who were also caring and willing to help others. Payne says, “I always thought that if anything happened to my parents that she would be the one to keep my family because that’s the kind of person she is. She’s very strong.”
Payne has been receiving hundreds of phone calls and texts from all over the state. People who live near the Huffaker home have been chipping in to get the family what it needs. “That has been the biggest help, people literally not asking what they can do, but, assessing something and then just doing it,” according to Payne. She says people have even started pulling weeds from Sarah Huffaker’s prized garden.
She also says the Huffaker children have been showing remarkable strength. “It’s interesting. I’ve watched the kids, even though they’re suffering, I’ve watched them literally comfort their friends and comfort other people.”
Officials with the FAA says their investigations generally take between 12 and 18 months to find a specific cause for a plane crash.
