The Downtown Salt Lake City Farmer's Market
SALT LAKE CITY — The Farmers Market returns to Pioneer Park on Tuesday nights starting August First.
This is the 8th year of the Tuesday night market; last year they tried the Gallivan Center, but are now returning to the embattled Pioneer Park because it seems to be a better location for commuters, and as efforts continue to improve the area.
“That’s part of our core mission. You can’t expect things to change overnight. It takes getting people down there, getting used to going to the park and having a positive experience, to really effect change in that neighborhood,” said Nick Como of the Downtown Alliance.
Organizer Alison Einerson says the Tuesday night event is a smaller scale than the Saturday Farmers Market.
“It’s more intimate. It’s an opportunity to talk to the growers, it’s a great opportunity to grab everything you want for dinner and head home from work,” she said.
Many growers are from farms within the Salt Lake City and County urban areas, as well as from a 50 mile radius outside those limits. Einerson says melons, corn, tomatoes, peaches and even lettuce and more will be available.
