Out-of-towner calls for help on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail

SALT LAKE CITY — The Weber County Sheriff’s office was called to assist a stranded hiker late Saturday afternoon on the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

Lt. Mark Horton with the Weber County Sheriff’s office told KSL that they received a distress call from a man who had been hiking by himself. The man was reportedly from out of town, and not familiar with the area.

Horton said the man got off the trail and then got lost in the area of One Horse Canyon.

“It got cold to the point he couldn’t walk,” Horton said. “His chief complaint was, I think, that his feet were too cold.”

Weber County Search and Rescue climb team along with its drone team and North View Fire were able to locate the man in the canyon.

Horton said the man was evaluated and then released.
