Donna Ward, Tooele High School

Mrs. Ward is an down to earth, love everyone, kind of teachers. She is concerned about all her students’ well being. She will advocate for their success and make sure they know she is there for them. She is especially watchful for the ones that often get overlooked. She has over 25 kids that usually eat lunch in her room, and she is a high school biology teacher, not an elementary teacher. She is constantly looking for ways to improve the school and actually implements them. I have seen her walk to the park to find a students that had been chronically truant and invite him and friends back to her class and to have lunch in her room; they came back! She has personally taken time to check in several times with a student that got cut from the basketball team and was also struggling with some broken family issues. She comes early and stays late. She is an off her seat, hands on type of teacher that keeps the kids involved and invested. She deserves to be honored.
