“Shari Iverson is a dedicated, hard-working, and devoted teacher. She has been teaching for 32 yrs in various positions. She taught 6th grade for over 10 years, worked as the art/music teacher, a first and fifth grade teacher, and has ended being an instructional coach for an entire school. Just this list is remarkable for one person but when you dive into what she did in each position is astounding. In 6th grade, she taught “tweenagers” not only the curriculum but to sing, to problem solve, to learn for themselves. She created fun and educational activities for students from kindergarten to 6th grade. After teaching 1st grade for years, a need arose for a 5th grade teacher. She graciously stepped into that position without any hesitation. Her principal and members of the district saw how dedicated she was not just to the work, but to the children. Her principal encouraged her to apply as an instructional coach. This prestige position is given to very few and only the best and most knowledgeable. Shari has somehow managed to go above and beyond in this already demanding position. Instead of just telling teachers new ideas, she shows them, instead of sending data, she explains it. She takes groups of children and helps them learn to read. She helps students terrified of coming into school, feel comfortable. Teachers lean on her for help and kids love seeing her and working with her. Now, after 32 years of this hard work, Shari gets to retire. However, instead of having a big celebration and party, she has chosen to leave quietly as to give another teacher, also retiring, the spotlight. This is who Shari is. She is there for others and does everything she can to make sure everyone has everything they need or want. It would be amazing for her to have something like this to show not only Utah, but her, how amazing she really is. Please consider Shari for this opportunity!”
