Wendy Casperson – East Sandy Elementary School

I wanted to nominate my daughter’s teacher Wendy Casperson. My daughter had Mrs. Casperson as her 5th grade teacher and she is a teacher that goes the extra mile and changes the lives of her students. Below is a copy of a letter my daughter wrote to Mrs. Casperson:

Dear Mrs. Casperson,

You are the most encouraging teacher. You have changed my life and the lives of so many other students. I took all your stories to heart and found the meaning in each one, except the swing story. You make me smile when you enter a room. You are always so happy even if everyone around you is unhappy or grouchy. I have asked all of my peers at East Sandy who their favorite teacher is, and you know what they said? You! They told me stories of all the times when they were in your class, and how happy they were to be with you. Of course I agree. I wish that fifth grade would have never ended. Now I only see you in the hallways, and soon I will be in seventh grade and will hardly ever see you (I will visit as much as possible). When I see you I feel like the rest of the day will be fantastic, because you filled me with so much happiness and joy. These words can’t even begin to tell you how much I love you. You are my inspiration during tests, hard times, and life. You are my hero. Without you I would still be looking for my creativity and inspiration. You are the definition of a kind, smart, loving, and beautiful person. You are enthusiastic and optimistic and I strive to be like you. When people ask where I learned something, I always say from the best. You’re the best I am talking about. I thought and thought, trying to think of one word to describe you but, I have not found one single word that could possibly explain how fabulous you are. Instead I have many: compassionate, humorous, adventurous, intelligent, patient, driven, open minded, loves unconditionally, and selfless. I really am thankful to have had you as a teacher! Even though fifth grade is over I will never forget all the memories we shared. You will always have a special place in my heart. I consider you to be one of the only adults I feel I can be totally be myself around. You are the foundation of my education in life. You are one of the only teachers who has earned my trust, I could tell you anything, and everything that is worth telling. I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done. THANK YOU! Thank you, for your inspiration This world needs more teachers like you, Mrs. Casperson. I will always remember the fifth grade, student council, and you as my favorite memories of elementary school. I will always remember you!

Love,

Kali Sutherland
