WEST JORDAN — Congressman Ben McAdams is self-isolating at home after testing positive for COVID-19.
McAdams released a statement on Wednesday explaining that his doctor had instructed him to get tested for coronavirus the day prior.
McAdams began experiencing mild cold-like symptoms after returning from Washington D.C.
In consultation with his doctor, McAdams chose to self-isolate at home and conduct all his meetings via telecommunication.
McAdams stated his symptoms got worse and he “developed a fever, a dry cough and labored breathing,” and remained self-quarantined.
After being tested at a local clinic on Tuesday, McAdams learned Wednesday the COVID-19 test came back positive.
“I am still working for Utahns and pursuing efforts to get Utahns the resources they need as I continue doing my job from home until I know it is safe to end my self-quarantine. I’m doing my part as all Americans are doing to contain the spread of the virus and mitigate the coronavirus outbreak,” assures McAdams.
He stressed the seriousness of the virus and urged Utahns to follow recommendations directed by the CDC and other health experts.
