SALT LAKE CITY — Tulsi Gabbard, the anti-war Hawaii congresswoman with a loyal following, will be campaigning for several days in Utah starting Friday.

She is one of several Democratic presidential candidates who have been visiting the Beehive State to stump for votes ahead of Super Tuesday.

However, Utah’s Republicans seem to be the more active and motivated voters. Salt Lake County Republicans have turned in 29,039 presidential primary election ballots, compared with 16,756 Democratic ones.

But that has not stopped local Democrats from trying to drum up enthusiasm for their candidates.

Rep. Ben McAdams, D-Utah, said he supports Mike Bloomberg, despite a debate performance that was widely criticized Wednesday night.

“This is a rough and tumble process. There’s no candidate who I agree with 100%. But I decided to cast my vote for Michael Bloomberg, and then we’ll see how the rest of the process plays out,” McAdams said.

Another supporter at Bloomberg’s Salt Lake City rally believes the mayor has the right message for Utah.

“I think that there’s a plan to reduce the debt, and get back to, basically, where we were before [President Trump],” the man said.
