My wife didn’t get a good start in life she was born with Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI and sometimes known as brittle bone disease so she started life with a broken leg the day she was born , and an arm just a few days later , life was hard for her and her family moved to where they could integrate into a regular school as most lumped her in with the severely disabled or retarded schools , she wanted to be as normal as she could , well hundreds of broken bones mostly legs , and many operations later she is permanently disabled she can stand only a Minute or 2 at a time and needs a wheel chair to get around , she doesn’t complain , when she chose a career , she chose to help others , and what a better job than teaching school , as she struggled in school as she missed a lot she chose resource reading and math , she works with kids who can’t read and helps them to read , ask any teacher teaching resource is hard , she loves her kids ,just last month she found one of her kids that couldn’t read and now can read serving on a mission , she loves to see what they achieve in life going from where they were to where they are well I nominate her now as she has a new challenge , we found a lump at the first of September and it turns out it is cancer , she will get several surgery’s and chemo , we fear radiation as it will weaken her bones even more than they already are , but if needed we will go through that as well she will teach as often as she can she doesn’t want the kids to fall behind , most of her outfits won’t fit when this is over so she will get to go shopping 🙂 she will enjoy that , it will be hard for us as I will be taking lots of time off work to care for her , but she is worth it.
