PROVO — A crowd of students gathered on the BYU campus next to the law school Friday afternoon, hoping their protest will change the way the university’s honor code operates.
Grant Frazier, an 18-year-old freshman, was one of the organizers. He says BYU’s leadership is already listening.
“The point of this today is to tell the university, ‘Hey, there’s all these students that support this. Let’s have a conversation. Let’s see what we can do to update the honor code and make it right,'” Frazier told KSL Newsradio.
Other students held banners and signs with messages such as, “Bring honor to the HCO” and “Restore Honor,” as well as citing scriptural verses on forgiveness.
Frazier says he met today with the associate dean over the Honor Code office. Yesterday, the head of BYU’s honor code office posted answers to questions about how it operates on the university’s website.
