LAYTON, Utah — A lockdown is over at NUAMES charter high school (The Northern Utah Academy for Math, Engineering & Science), located at the Weber State University (WSU) Davis in Layton.

Authorities placed NUAMES under a soft lockdown after the school received several threatening messages.

Around 11:30 am on Tuesday, the school went on lockdown out of an abundance of caution after an individual had sent a handful of texts to the SafeUT hotline threatening violence at the school, according to a statement from NUAMES.

The lockdown lasted for approximately one hour. School officials notified parents about the situation. They locked all doors on campus and administrators monitored anyone entering the building as police patrolled the campus.

NUAMES says WSU police were able to identify the caller through an IP address. WSU Police in collaboration with Layton and Roy City police departments arrested a man in connection to the texts without incident.

The individual has been booked in the Davis County Jail.
