WEBER COUNTY, Utah– Bonneville High School is moving to online learning for two weeks following a COVID-19 outbreak.
In an announcement Wednesday, officials from Bonneville High said “15 or more individuals connected to the school have tested positive for COVID-19 within the past two weeks, and multiple classrooms have been affected.” The school will close for 14-days per the recommendation of the Weber County Health Department.
From Thursday, Oct. 29 to Wednesday, Nov. 11 students will participate in remote instruction. Students are scheduled to return to class on Thursday, Nov. 12th.
During the closure, Bonneville High School will be disinfected and sanitized in compliance with its Safe Weber Framework.
It is important to note that this announcement does not mean the entire school is quarantined. Bonneville High School officials said only those who have tested positive or exposed to the virus must quarantine for 14-days.
School sanctioned extracurricular activities are allowed to continue under remote instruction so long as there are no more than three positive cases of the virus.
“Currently, there are no active cases on the volleyball or football teams,” said Bonneville High School officials. “At this time, students will be allowed to continue to participate in these sports.”
Bonneville High School said it’s working with the local health department and will make adjustments as necessary.
