SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah — A car crash on Redwood Road and Harvest Hills in Saratoga Springs killed a 16-year-old driver Tuesday.

Assistant Police Chief Bill Robertson with Saratoga Springs Police Department confirmed two cars were involved in the crash. In one car, a 16-year-old driver was trying to turn left from Redwood Road onto westbound Harvest Hills. According to witnesses, another vehicle driving southbound on Redwood Road ran a right light and broadsided the vehicle driven by the 16-year-old driver.

Robertson said that the 16-year-old driver died at the scene of the crash.

“Medical personnel tried to work [on] him for approximately 45 minutes,” Robertson said, “to no avail.”

The other driver, a 28-year-old male, was transported from the scene by ambulance in critical but stable condition.

Saratoga Springs crash investigation underway

An investigation into the crash has been initiated, Robertson said, and one of the questions to be answered is whether the surviving driver was impaired at the time of the crash.

“We do have some indications from witnesses prior to the accident that the 28-year-old driver was speeding, and also, some erratic driving,” Robertson told KSL.

The erratic driving reported by witnesses happened north of the accident.

“Almost to the situation where there was some road rage going on,” Robertson said, “possible gestures to other cars, things like that.”

The investigation continues. This story will be updated.
