EDEN, Utah — One man was killed after a single-engine aircraft crashed Saturday morning near Powder Mountain Ski Resort in Ogden Canyon. And on Saturday night, a man who was airlifted to a burn center at the University of Utah also died from his injuries.

Weber Fire District officials say one of the men was alive when rescuers reached the crash site, but that he had extensive burns.

Deputy Chief Marshall David Reed said the airplane crashed in an area that was difficult for rescue crews to access initially.  When they were able to get to the crash scene they found one person had died after he was ejected from the plane upon impact.

Two helicopters were needed to bring the injured man out of the crash scene. The first was Lifeflight, which is fitted with a hoist capable of lifting an injured person.

Once the injured man was hoisted from the crash site, he was transported by AirLife helicopter to the University of Utah burn center.

A small fire that started upon the airplane’s impact was contained according to Reed.

An investigation is underway as to the cause of the crash.
