Two women in custody after Layton pickup truck theft

LAYTON, Utah — Two women are in custody Thursday following what Layton police described as the attempted theft of a pickup truck and a trailer with a side by side on it.

According to Lt. Travis Lyman of the Layton City Police Department, two women in a red Cadillac pulled up next to the parked truck. One woman jumped out and got in the truck and took off.

Lyman said the homeowner notified Layton police of the theft shortly before 8:30 a.m.

The truck on got on I-15 southbound at Layton Parkway. The Davis County Sheriff’s Office and the Utah Highway Patrol pursued the vehicle. 

Authorities deployed spikes to help end the pursuit. The chase ended southbound on I-215 and 2100 North.

Police took both women into custody for questioning.
