SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department has solved the case of a woman, who went missing in 1979.

Using DNA samples from family members, authorities identified the remains of Sandra Matott. Her body was discovered off of I-15 near Cove Fort.

Darrell Haynes, her son, recently told KSL-TV he thinks his stepdad had a hand in her death.

“It was a toxic relationship,” he said. “And they probably almost killed each other more than once.”

Police aren’t certain that he killed her. Matott’s husband died in 1999.
