SALT LAKE CITY — The Medical Advisory Council of Utah’s Consulate of Mexico is urging the Utah Hispanic population to receive the vaccine for COVID-19.

The Council cites concern about the delta variant and the increasing number of people infected by COVID-19.

“For this reason today, we make a call to our community, to tell them that it is extremely important to ‘contribute their grain of sand,’ and go get vaccinated if they have not done so yet,” the Consulate’s Medical Advisory Council said in a statement.

“The vaccine is free, regardless of your nationality or immigration status,” the Consulate’s Medical Advisory Council added in a statement. “The information you provide to health authorities is not shared and will not compromise you or your family.”

The statement concluded with the names of the physicians who make up the medical advisory council: Dr. Patricia Aguayo,Dr. Alan Contreras, Dr. Juan Gallegos, Dr. Adriana Gómez, Dr. Diego Ize-Ludlow, Dr. Fidel López, Dr. Adriana Molano, Dr. Gabriela Portugal, Dr. Manuel I. Rodríguez, Dr. Jorge Sánchez García, Dr. Iván Zendejas.

The advisory council’s primary message is to encourage the community to get vaccinated to protect themselves, their loved ones and the community so that we may continue fighting COVID-19 in hope of its eradication.

The Medical Advisory Council is a network of Mexican health professionals in the state of Utah, committed to supporting the Hispanic community in the state.
