SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — South Jordan investigators are trying to piece together the strange details of a chase that led to a driver being shot shooting behind the wheel of her car.  But they say she is being extremely tight-lipped which is making the investigation tricky.

Investigators say they tried to speak with the woman who was reportedly hit by two bullets right before she crashed into another car near 10400 South and 2450 West.  Lt. Rob Hansen said they first tried to speak with her at the scene of the crash.  Then, they tried to talk to her at the hospital, but, she reportedly made it clear she wouldn’t tell investigators any details about who shot her or why.

“She is not willing to have any conversations with us, at all,” Hansen said.

A passenger inside the victim’s car was able to provide limited information to investigators, and Hansen said she’s helped them rule out any random act of road rage as the reason behind the shooting.

“She validates and verifies that our victim and the other people involved were known to each other,” he said.

Police still haven’t pinpointed a specific suspect or a person of interest, yet.  Hansen said the passenger wasn’t able to provide that information.

“We have no reason to believe that she knew them, previously,” Hansen said.

Investigators believe the argument between the victim and suspect started in West Jordan, and the victim apparently tried to flee.  However, the suspect reportedly chased the woman into South Jordan.  Hansen said they’re not sure where the chase started.  They know that shots were fired soon before the victim crashed.

“The shooting takes place within 30 to 45 seconds of the accident. So, the shooting took place in South Jordan. We’re confident of that,” he said.

For now, investigators are trying to find any available security footage or doorbell video to determine where the chase may have originated.
