SALT LAKE CITY — There won’t be anyone in the congregation this weekend again for the 191st Semiannual General Conference of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, for the fourth conference in a row since the pandemic began.

But in the six months since the last general conference in April 2021, more things have re-opened for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints around Utah and around the world.

General conference: What’s open

Church leaders say they strictly follow the guidance of local governments to prevent the spread of the pandemic in every area they operate. So they have had a measured return to normal operating procedures.

This past May, the church’s historic sites began allowing visitors again.

Over the summer, Temple Square started re-opening the libraries and museums and Conference Center for patrons, visitors and tours.

Some Missionary Training Centers like the Provo location now have in-person training. Others are following.

Many missionaries are now able to travel to another country, depending on local guidelines.

Just last week, The Tabernacle Choir began rehearsing again with several layers of precautions.

Temple work also moves forward in re-opening phases around the world.
