SR-9 through Zion National Park re-opens after rock fall

SPRINGDALE, Utah — Zion National Park has re-opened to standard cars after a rock slide occurred at 4:30 pm on Friday. The highway will open up to oversize vehicles on Saturday at eight o’clock in the morning as scheduled.
After the slide, the road was closed west of the Zion-Mount Carmel Tunnel. National Park Services cleared all lanes and found there was no damage to the highway.
No cars or travelers were damaged by the rockfall, the National Park Service said.
SR-9 event closure
State Route 9 will close from Rockville to Springville on Saturday, Nov. 13th for the 2021 Butch Cassidy 10K/5K. The race begins at nine o’clock in the morning on Saturday. You may want to consider an alternative route if you are traveling into the park at that time.
