Crashes near Scipio and in Summit County kill two people

SCIPIO, Utah — A two-vehicle accident Friday morning on southbound I-15 at milepost 194 near Scipio claimed the life of one person.

Scipio crash happened at 5:30 a.m.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, the accident happened at about 5:30 a.m. A pickup truck pulling a large horse trailer with sleeping quarters approached a semi that was moving slowly as it attempted to climb a grade. However, the pickup ran into the back of the semi with the right corner. The pickup then went into the median. 

The individual sitting in the front passenger seat of the pickup was thrown into the back seat. That person passed away at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.

The driver of the pickup along with four children suffered serious injuries and were transported to an area hospital. According to the UHP, three of the children were in the sleeping quarters of the horse trailer. 

One lane on I-15 was closed for several hours for the clean up and investigation of the crash.

No other information was provided.

Summit County crash kills one person

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — On Thursday afternoon, one person was killed in a two-car accident on SR-32.

According to the Utah Highway Patrol, a silver Subaru Outback was driving southbound on SR-32 near milepost 13.  A gray Audi A4 was in the area traveling in the opposite direction.

The UHP says the Subaru crossed into the path of the Audi A4 and spun perpendicular. 

The front end of the Audi collided with the right side of the Subaru. Neither driver was wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Subaru passed away from injuries sustained in the crash. The driver of Audi suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to an area hospital.

SR-32 was closed for 3.5 hours Thursday.
