LAYTON, Utah — A two-year-boy has died from injuries sustained Monday in a car crash in Layton, police say.
The crash happened on Highway 193 near Fort Lane. According to police, the mother of the 2-year-old was driving eastbound on Highway 193. Their vehicle was struck by a snowplow as it turned onto the highway. Traffic was closed in both directions just prior to 4 p.m.
Both the mother and child were transported to a nearby hospital in serious condition. However, the child passed away from his injuries Monday evening.
According to Travis Lyman of the Layton Police Department, the mother remains in the hospital as of Tuesday. However, there was no update on her condition. Her injuries, however, didn’t appear to be life-threatening, according to Lyman.
The driver of the truck was not injured. However, charges may be filed for the driver’s failure to yield.
During the investigation and cleanup of Monday’s crash, all traffic was diverted onto Antelope Drive.
