MAGNA, Utah — Twenty-year-old Frank David Lopez-Orellana faces two first-degree felony charges related to the disappearance of a 14-year old girl that prompted an AMBER Alert out of Magna.

Lopez-Orellana is being held in a Texas jail without bail on charges of aggravated kidnapping and rape. He is awaiting extradition to Utah.

According to charges filed in Salt Lake City’s 3rd District Court, Lopez-Orellana told police he met the girl online and later drove from San Antonio to Magna and back to San Antonio so “they could have a physical relationship.”

An AMBER Alert was issued on March 22. Lopez-Orellana was reportedly found with the child and arrested the same night.

Police said the girl went with Lopez-Orellana willingly. She left a note to tell her mother she was leaving and also stopped to say goodbye to some friends.

Lopez-Orellana was aware of her age before driving to Magna, police said, and admitted to having sex with her on the drive to San Antonio.

Charging documents indicate that Lopez-Orellana is originally from Honduras and is in the United States illegally.
