WASHINGTON CITY, Utah — Washington City Police have identified the two men who were killed while riding their bicycles near St. George this weekend.

Matthew Bullard, age 48, and his brother Adam Bullard, age 49, were riding in a bicycle lane on Telegraph Street Saturday when police said they were hit.

The brothers were residents of Whittier, California. According to a GuFundMe account, they were participating in the Tour of St. George with their sons.

Police have also identified the driver as Julie Budge, from Hurricane, Utah.  She has been booked into Purgatory Correctional Facility and charged with two counts of automobile homicide, leaving the scene of an accident involving a death, DUI with serious bodily injury, reckless driving, and improper lane travel.

The cyclists were participating in the annual Spring Tour of St. George according to Bike Utah.

Both the cyclists and the driver were traveling westbound on Telegraph Street when the accident occurred.

Witnesses began life-saving measures on the brothers and those measures were continued by first responders. The cyclists were transported to St. George Regional hospital, where both of them died of their injuries.

“We are gutted by the tragic and preventable death of the two cyclists whose lives were taken this weekend,” said Bike Utah Executive Director Jenn Oxborrow. “Our hearts go out to their loved ones and to everyone who witnessed the crash, as well as to those who attempted to provide life-saving help.”

An investigation continues.
