SALT LAKE CITY — After three years of not holding a typical Pride Festival, Utah Pride Center (UPC) announced its plans to host the largest Pride Festival and parade in 30 years.
The Center said it planned 14 events and activities for the upcoming 2022 Pride Week, which takes place from May 29 to June 5.
“We’re seeing incredible support from the community and our sponsors,” said Utah Pride Center co-CEO Tanya Hawkins in a press release.
“I think people are ready and excited to show pride and return to pre-pandemic celebrations. With this being our thirtieth year as a non-profit supporting LGBTQ+ Utahns, we plan on giving the community a celebration they deserve.”
UPC said in a press release that dozens of volunteers will help make Pride Week 2022 possible.
Pride Week 2022 activities and events
UPC said it expects this year’s Pride Festival to cater to 60,000+ people over the two-day celebration. It plans to have more space for food trucks, drink stations, and exhibitor booths.
Pride Week 2022 will feature the musical artists SHAED, Justin Utley, the Saliva Sisters, Mila Jam and DEV.
In addition to the festivities, this year’s parade will follow an expanded route. UPC said the route will have more space for seating along tree-lined streets. The extended route will accommodate social distancing and allow more people to watch the parade.
