MOAB, Utah — Multiple rescue agencies responded to a fire at a mobile home park at 1520 Murphy Lane in Moab on Sunday.
By the time the fire was out, a Grand County official said six homes were completely destroyed. And though some people suffered from minor smoke inhalation, there were no injuries.
Grand County EMS Director Andy Smith told KSL that when crews arrived they found multiple mobile homes fully engulfed in flames. The entire Park Creek Campground, about 30 trailers, was evacuated.
The American Red Cross set up assistance for the residents at a nearby bowling alley. The Grand County Sheriff’s office said that anybody who needs help can call 435-260-6013 to speak to a victim advocate.
A large concern for firefighters was that the fire might spread to nearby dry creek beds. As such, a helicopter from the Bureau of Land Management was on standby. But Smith said that crews stopped the fire before it reached the creek beds.
In all the fire consumed nearly one-half acre.
On its Facebook page, the Grand County Sheriff’s office asked all residents of the campground to monitor their surroundings for fire prevention, and that firefighters will continue to do the same.
