Update July 10, 2022 7:34 p.m.

Utah Fire Info took to Twitter to say the Sardine Fire is now 80% contained.

It says Great Northern and Weber Basin Type 2 IA crews have been on scene fighting the blaze in addition to air resources.

Update: July 9, 2022 8:15 p.m.

Officials in Stockton have ordered that no outside watering take place as a result of damage done to the town’s watering system from the Jacon City Fire. This order is in place until further notice.

As conditions improve, the water department will update the situation.

Stockton Fire Chief Justin Huffman says the water is safe to drink.

“The water treatment plant, the well house, all of that is good,” he said to KSL NewsRadio. “That took fire, but it did not damage the facility. The actions right now are no outside water, but the water is safe to drink. Everything is good with the water.”

Our previous reporting

TOOELE COUNTY, Utah — Two new fires started up in Utah on Saturday, according to Utah Fire Info.

The first one to be reported, according to the Utah Fire Info, is the Jacob City Fire, east of Stockton in Tooele County. There are structures that are threatened by the fire.

The fire is currently at 2,100-plus acres, according to Utah Fire Info. It is going up both sides of Solider Canyon.

Ground crews and air resources are on the scene.

Evacuations have been issued for campers in the Middle Canyon area. The fire is burning four miles from the Salt Lake County border.

Additionally, officials in Stockton are asking the public not to use water as the fire may have damaged the town’s water system.

Authorities in Tooele County are asking the public to stay away from Soldier Canyon.

Sardine Fire

The second fire is Sardine Fire, which is along US-91 near milepost 16, and three miles from Logan.

Utah Fire Info also reports that this fire is 30 acres in size and is also threatening 15 to 20 structures. Ten homes have been evacuated as a result of this fire. Utah Fire Info says the fire is 0% contained and is actively running.
