Our original coverage

SALT LAKE CITY — The Unified Fire Authority and the Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to a fire in Parley’s Canyon early Monday morning. The Little Dell Fire is expected to grow as the day goes on.

UFA Public Information Officer Ryan Love said calls about the fire came in around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

Crews from the UFA and SLCFD responded to the fire and continued to work on it through the morning.

Love said the crews would also get assistance from two single air tankers and a helicopter. The aircrafts will use the Dell Reservoir for water pickup.

The Little Dell Fire has burned eight to 10 acres so far. Love said that crews expect the fire to get bigger as the day gets hotter.

The UFA said no structures or communities are threatened by the fire at this time.

But, the Utah Department of Transportation advised that the fire was affecting northbound State Route 65 at milepost 1 and estimated it would clear by 10:00 a.m. Monday.
