MILLARD COUNTY, Utah — The Halfway Hill Fire continues to burn in central Utah as fire crews continue to their battle to extinguish the fire that started on Friday, July 8.
In an update Thursday evening, officials say the Halfway Hill Fire is 15% contained and has burned 11,637 acres.
According to Utah Fire Info, cooler weather and cover from the clouds slowed the movement of the fire on Thursday.
Fire officials have called for a community meeting at the North Park Pavilion in Fillmore at 7 p.m. The meeting will be streamed on Facebook Live.
Utah Fire Info reports things were quiet on the front of the Jacob City Fire in Tooele County.
Utah Fire Info also reports that heavy rain hit the fire area for parts of Wednesday. As of Wednesday, the fire had burned 4,185 acres and was 28% contained.
Utah Fire Info reported Thursday the startup of a new fire. The Hill Fire is located north of Highway 6 and west of the Billies Mountain in Utah County.
As of Thursday evening, the fire had burned 20 acres and was 20% contained. Utah Fire Info says lightning may have been the cause of the blaze.
