JUAB COUNTY, Utah — The Utah Highway Patrol sent out a reminder to drivers to slow down after citing a driver twice for excessive speeding within 10 minutes.

In a Facebook post, the UHP said the driver of a Honda Pilot was stopped two different times by two different troopers for speeding on Wednesday.

At around 6:43 p.m. the first trooper stopped the driver on I-15 at milepost 213, just outside Levan, Utah. The UHP said the driver’s speed was 111 mph. The trooper cited the driver and sent him on his way.

A little over 10 minutes later around 6:54 p.m., a second trooper stopped the Honda Pilot driver again at on I-15 at milepost 217. This time, the UHP said, the driver was going 105 mph. The trooper cited the driver once again.

Both troopers cited the driver under the new “reckless over 105” law. The UHP explained that under the new law, adult drivers charged with reckless driving twice within 12 months have their licenses automatically reviewed. After the review, the license may be suspended. For minors, it just takes one charge of reckless driving.

“Slow down, nothing is worth risking your life or putting others in danger so you can get somewhere just a few minutes faster,” the UHP’s post said.
