STOCKTON, Utah — Police in Stockton removed a travel trailer Tuesday after they say it was dumping raw sewage onto the ground.

In a Facebook posting, police say they were called to the area of Clark Street and Rogers Street for a foul odor. Upon arrival, officers discovered the trailer was dumping raw sewage and was pooling. Additionally, law enforcement personnel found flies and maggots in the area of the trailer. They also discovered fly traps on every corner of the trailer that were filled to capacity on every corner of the trailer.

Police contacted a 45-year-old male, who had been living in the trailer. They informed him it was against the law to dump raw sewage onto the ground and to live in a travel trailer.

The man informed police that he was homeless, and the trailer belonged to his brother. The man also told police his brother had given him permission to live in the trailer. He said the sewage was due to a broken part that occurred while he was away from the trailer.

After being informed of the violations, the man became defiant with police. According to police, the man said the trailer would remain in place until his brother told him to move it.

As a result, police obtained a warrant to remove the trailer. The warrant was sought to due to the threat posed to the public health and safety. The man was cited for violating the use of public sewer ordinance. He was also cited for breaking the RV and motorhome living ordinance. Both are misdemeanors.
