New fire breaks out on Y Mountain in Provo

PROVO, Utah — A new fire was reported Friday evening on Y Mountain in Provo.
Jeanie Atherton, of the Provo Fire Department, says her department has received a report of a fire on U.S. Forest Property. Provo fire crews have gotten a visual of the fire and have notified the U.S. Forest Service, which is sending in crews.
Atherton says dispatch has received lots of calls about the fire. She is asking those who may see the fire to not call because it ties up their lines. The fire was first reported at 5:16 p.m.
Please do not call 911 if you see smoke or fire high on Y mountain. We are aware that there is a fire up there. It is on Forest Service property. They have been notified and are sending crews to contain the fire. We do not know how the fire started. Thank you! pic.twitter.com/RaaYP3dzWN
