One of the greatest benefits of remote work is that you can work from anywhere! Extended stays are becoming more popular with the rise of hybrid and work-from-home jobs. It can be refreshing to shake things up and try something new!

If you’re wondering where a good extended stay near you is, check out working from Bear Lake. Bear Lake falls and winters are known for being quiet and cozy, so it’s a perfect time to stay for a month or two and crunch out work. Here are 4 tips to prepare for your long-term stay, whether at Bear Lake or somewhere else nearby.

1: Make sure you have all of your essentials covered for your extended stay

How you pack for a quick vacation versus a longer-term stay will differ. You want to ensure you have enough clothing, toiletries, and other essentials to cover your bases. Think about all the things you use daily to ensure you have them at hand in your temporary home.

Thoroughly check the amenities of the place you’re staying before you book. Some questions to consider while you shop around include the following:

  • Is there a fully equipped kitchen with all the tools you need?
  • What restaurant options are nearby?
  • Is there a washer and dryer in the unit or a laundromat nearby?
  • Who can I contact in case a maintenance need arises?

Researching ahead of time will save you from a headache later on.

2: Pack your laptop, charger, and hotspot devices

There’s nothing worse than packing your laptop, but forgetting your charger! Make sure you have the tools you need to perform your job before heading out the door. That also includes things that make your work more convenient, such as a portable mouse and headphones.

While most places are equipped with Wi-fi, you never know if you will experience an outage. Having a mobile hotspot will save you a headache if there are any issues you run into.

3: Check in with your friends and family at home

Maintain important connections with your family at home while you are away. Calling and texting them regularly can help you stay present. It fulfills your social needs and helps you stay in touch with how your loved ones are doing. Since you will be all set up to work from home, you can even video chat with them to feel an even closer bond.

4: Plan for FUN!

Bear Lake has so much to offer during your downtime. Look into activities like cave exploration or monuments around the Bear Lake valley when you have a day off. The surrounding areas of Bear Lake also offer plenty of trails for hiking or open spaces for hunting. And the best part is, there are hardly any crowds!

The wintertime also offers a lot of fun activities. Pack your winter gear and get ready for snowmobiling, snowshoeing, or even a trip to Ski the Beav at Beaver Mountain!

It’s also fun staying home and getting cozy with snacks and drinks! Pack a book, puzzles, and other games to enjoy your lodging. The scenic views out your window make a stunning backdrop to whatever activity you choose to entertain yourself.
