SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department took two people into custody earlier this month in connection to an illegal gambling operation.

Within the investigation, detectives seized illegal drugs and a loaded firearm, according to a news release.

On Oct. 27, detectives discovered that illegal gambling machines were in use at a business, around 1100 S. Glendale Drive.

Undercover detectives went to the business and confirmed the presence and the use of illegal gambling machines.

According to the news release, an employee, identified as 27-year-old Jazmine Sosa, provided change and paid out winnings.

On Nov. 2, detectives, with the assistance of the department’s SWAT team, served a court-ordered search warrant at the business.

During the search, law enforcement personnel seized four gambling machines, a large amount of cash and drug paraphrenia.

Also, during the search, police took 24-year-old Tyler Miller and Sosa into custody.

Both were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for investigation of one count of intentionally providing or offering to provide online gambling. The two suspects were also booked for investigation of one count of gambling promotion, and possession of a gambling device.
