SALT LAKE CITY — Sandy Police arrested an alleged street racer near 8840 S State Street on Nov. 18. The driver, 19-year-old Seth Dobson, was arrested on suspicion of five different charges.

Sandy Police officer Steven Pomeroy said in the Affidavit of Probable that he noticed Dobson and another vehicle traveling at high speed together. He believed them to be street racing based on their driving patterns.

Pomeroy said that he estimated the two cars to be traveling around 70 mph, over 30 mph of the speed limit in the given area. He also said Dobson swerved into a shoulder when passing another vehicle. Pomeroy said Dobson’s actions showed he was driving with “willful disregard” for others on the road.

Dobson was placed under arrest and charged with alleged reckless driving, speed contest, speeding, improper passing and muffler violation.

Sandy Police tweeted about the incident with the #SlowDownSandy, encouraging drivers to watch their speeds on the road.
