SALT LAKE CITY — An open house for the San Juan Puerto Rico Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is set to begin this week.
The open house will begin Dec. 1 and will run through Dec. 17, with the exception of Sundays. It will then be dedicated by Elder D. Todd Christofferson, of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, on Jan. 15, 2023.
The temple is the third in the Caribbean, and the first in the territory. The other temples in the Caribbean are in the Dominican Republic and Haiti.
According to a church news release, more than 23,000 members of the church live in Puerto Rico.
The temple will be a single-story structure and 6,988 square feet. It will be built on 2.97 acres of land.
The San Juan Puerto Rico Temple was first announced by President Russell M. Nelson in October 2018.
