Lone Mountain Nevada Temple site announced, ground broken on Torreón Mexico Temple

SALT LAKE CITY — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Monday the site of the Lone Mountain Nevada Temple.

According to a news release, the temple will be built southwest of Hickman Avenue between North Grand Canyon Drive and Tee Pee Lane in Las Vegas.
The temple was announced in October by church President Russell M. Nelson. It will be the city’s second temple. The first being the Las Vegas Nevada Temple, opening in December 1989.
According to the news release, the designs for the temple call for a three-story structure of 87,000 square feet.
Design plans for the temple are still being developed. And will be released at some point in the future, according to the news release. The groundbreaking date will also be announced at a later time.
Torreón Mexico Temple groundbreaking ceremony
On Saturday, the church broke ground on the Torreón Mexico Temple. Elder Hugo Montoya, president of the Mexico area, presided at the event.
“This building, as you can see, will be beautiful,” Elder Hugo said in his remarks Saturday. “[It will be] made with high-quality materials and built with the highest standards. However, it is not the building itself that allows us to feel joy but what takes place inside the building, which are ordinances and covenants.”
President Nelson announced this temple in April 2021.
According to the news release, the Torreón Mexico Temple will be one of 23 temples either in operation or announced in Mexico.
