SALT LAKE CITY — The open house for the Richmond Virginia Temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints begins this week.

Invited guests of the church will tour the temple between Tuesday, March 21, and Friday, March 24. The public open house will begin on Saturday, March 25. The open house will run until April 15, with the exception of Sundays and Saturday, April 1 (General Conference).

The dedication of the Richmond Virginia Temple will be held on Sunday, May 7. President Dallin H. Oaks, first counselor in The First Presidency will dedicate the temple in two sessions at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.

The dedicatory sessions will be broadcast to all church congregations in the temple district.

The Richmond Virginia Temple was first announced in April 2018 by President Russell M. Nelson. The temple will be located in Glen Allen, Virgina, and it will be the state’s first temple. Once it is dedicated, the temple will be the 177th operating temple.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the temple was held April 11, 2020. Construction on the temple began two days later on April 13, 2020.

The temple will be built on 12-acres of land and will be roughly 39,200 square feet.
