BRIGHTON, Utah — Brighton Ski Resort has officially passed 700 inches of snow, marking the earliest time a resort has ever hit this milestone.

To put the milestone in perspective, Ski Utah said a typical winter brings 500 inches. 700 inches is the equivalent of stacking ten cars on top of each other.

And we’re not done, more mountain snow is coming tonight.

National Weather Service Senior Meteorologist Monica Traphagan said, “The precipication is going to become widespread over southern Utah during the morning and then it will spread into northern Utah into the afternoon.”

Traphagan said with this last storm, Utah’s snow-water equivalent is now only and inch and a half from the 40-year-old record.

As part of the celebration later this week, you will actually see a 700-inch banner on the Hyatt Regency hotel in downtown Salt Lake City.
