SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Transit Authority’s S-Line shut down on Tuesday after a car hit a nearby power pole.

UTA spokesman Carl Arky said a non-UTA vehicle hit a power pole on 500 East Tuesday morning. Around 7:44 a.m., UTA alerted riders that the crash caused the streetcar to shut down.

Arky said UTA expected that the S-Line would be down for “quite some time.”

UTA placed a van bridge along the entire affected route.

UTA asked that anyone needing ADA accommodations use buses because the vans do not have the right accommodations.
