SALT LAKE CITY — With the 2023 Salt Lake City Marathon and auxiliary events just around the corner, the Salt Lake City Police Department is reminding community members and visitors to expect significant road closures starting early on Saturday, April 22, 2023.

Police will be stationed along the course as participants and spectators gear up for the marathon, half-marathon, bike tour, and other short-distance running events. This is a precaution to ensure the safety of all involved.

Police said they’re working with the event organizers but that some segments of the race course will require 100% road closure that could last as long as seven hours. Police ask all motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists to adhere to posted signs and directions from officers along the racecourse.

Course maps are available for review on the Salt Lake City Marathon’s website. Nearby residents should plan ahead, avoid the affected areas, or adjust their travel schedules if possible.

The Salt Lake City Marathon will result in a significant increase in vehicular, pedestrian, and bicycle traffic.  Extreme caution is advised when traveling through the area.

Race organizers offer more information on road closures and estimated time frames on their website.
