ST. GEORGE, Utah — The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Monday open house and rededication dates for the St. George, Utah Temple.
A public house open house will be held between Friday, Sept. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 11. No open house will be held on Sundays or Saturday, Sept. 30 (general conference).
A media day will be held the Monday prior to the beginning of the open house.
The temple will then be dedicated on Sunday, Dec. 10 in two sessions. The two dedicatory sessions will be at 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
According to a church news release, additional information on the temple rededication will be announced as the date gets closer.
Originally dedicated in 1877, the temple in St. George was the first to be constructed in Utah. After an announcement by President Russell M. Nelson in October 2018, the temple has been closed since November 2019.
The St. George Utah Temple also underwent a renovation in the 1970s, and was rededicated by then President Spencer W. Kimball.
The temple is one of 28 temples in the Beehive State that are either in operation, under construction or undergoing renovation. Additionally, the Saratoga Springs Utah Temple will be dedicated in August.
