SALT LAKE CITY — Five teenagers on their lunch break from Richfield High School were injured when the Jeep in which they were passengers drove off the side of CC Road just west of Richfield.
The Utah Highway Patrol (UHP) says the silver and gray Jeep Cherokee was traveling east on this road when what they call an “inexperienced” driver lost control.
The Jeep flew off the right side of the road and down into a deep and rocky ravine.
The UHP says that five teenagers were inside the Jeep. Four of them were in critical condition after the accident and were flown from Richfield to Salt Lake hospitals by helicopter.
The Deseret News reports that a fifth person was treated at the scene for non-life threatening injuries.
Only two people in the Jeep were wearing their seatbelts.
The Utah Highway Patrol describes CC Road as “a dirt road frequented by teenagers at lunch break.”
