David Haight – Mountain View High School

To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Andrew Glover, and I attend Mountain View High School. I will be a junior this coming year. I am writing in regards to the woodshop teacher we have at MVHS, Mr. David Haight.

I had a small history of woodworking with my dad and grandpa, but was still nervous on my first day of woodshop. Mr. Haight put the class at ease, and it was easy to see that those who had taken his class before were very excited.

His good humor and love of what he does is infectious. It is impossible to watch him do a demonstration or help a student with a complex project and not see the amount of effort he puts into teaching: 100%.

Mr. Haight is also incredibly knowledgeable in his field. If ever I have a question in class, he is able to answer it, or finds out by the next class period. His love of woodworking is easy to see by looking at his personal collection of constructed projects, which always is a source of awe for his students.

He also always goes above and beyond the call of duty. Always happy to leave the shop open after school to help students struggling on a big project, he sacrifices his time for his students. Mr. Haight is even in the shop nearly every day of the summer to work with students building projects. I had the opportunity to go in several days during the summer, during which he helped me plan for my Eagle Project.

I think Mr. Haight is a fantastic teacher who gives his all to his students and is always willing to help those in need.

Dear KSL,
I am a grateful listener. I am thankful you take the time with “my” bank Zion’s Bank to honor our forgotten heroes.
Please honor Mr. David Haight. I have helped a little in his class the past year. He is simply amazing. If you need more letters, or phone calls, or anything – please contact me.
A loyal listener and devoted to good education.

Mr. Haight is always helping his students be the best they can. He explains things, then demonstrates, guides you while you do it, and then enables you to not only do it yourself but help others. In my opinion he is one of the best teachers ever.

Mr. Haight’s an amazing woods teacher. You can come to him with any question and he’ll have a solution. He’s patient with the students and is always telling jokes. If someone needs help he’ll do a demonstration for the whole class. He’ll help students step by step.

Mr. Haight is dedicated to the students and works hard to create an environment where we can learn and progress. He puts in many extra hours to make sure we can get our projects done. And it is very clear to everyone that he knows what he is doing.

-Whitney Raulies

Mr. Haight loves woods and wants to help instill that in his students. He is good at helping us succeed in his class. I never could have finished my projects without him.

Mr. Haight is extremely patient and puts up with so much. He will drop whatever he is doing to make sure you understand what you are doing. He is knowledgeable and productive and deserves this honor.

-Christine Hill

Whenever I need help, Mr. Haight always puts forth the effort. He is never too busy, and will stay after as long as you need him. He always makes sure everything is going right and has amazing control over the classroom. He makes time for everyone, no matter what they need!

-Berklee B.

——————————————————–

Mr. Haight is the best because he is so happy with his work! He always wants us to be working on a project and is always willing to help us do what we need. And he knows exactly what he is doing. He is so knowledgeable in his field. Mr. Haight loves what he does, loves working with students, and loves teaching.

-A.G.

———————————————————

I’ve know Mr. Haight for 30 years when I was a senior at Orem High our class was the first class that Mr. Haight taught. We were ruthless towards him! Since that time I have kept in touch with Mr. Haight at Mountain View High School. He has been very kind and helpful towards a once ruthless antagonist.
The world needs more people like Mr. Haight.
