SPRINGVILLE, Utah — Springville Police have had their hands full this week, investigating two deaths in just a few days.

It’s been a tough week for the police department, according to Chief Lance Haight.

“It is difficult for them so they rely on support from the community and their families,” said Haight.

Chief Haight told KSL TV that some of their officers have seen more homicides this week than they have in their whole careers.

Springville shooting

Police found a man shot dead on his front porch in town on Saturday.

25-year-old Hunter Lamoreaux, who matched the suspect’s description, later walked into the station saying he had information about the homicide.

Police arrested Lamoreaux on suspicion of murder and felony discharge of a firearm in connection with a homicide.

Arrest records show Lamoreaux admitted that he was upset with the victim because of a custody dispute and pending divorce between the victim and his wife.

Lily Conroy

The shooting came days after what police are calling a possible murder-suicide that left one 19-year-old  man dead and his ex-girlfriend, 17-year-old Lily Conroy, in the hospital.

Conroy remains in the hospital on life support while her family looks to donate her organs.

Springville Mayor Matt Packard said the community is just not used to crimes like this in their small city, “While you might hear those kinds of things in larger cities it’s just very uncharacteristic of Springville.”

Packard said their community is rallying together to support the impacted families.

“They bond together when there are situations like this. And it’s a great reflection of the kind of people we have in the community,” said Mayor Packard.

Mapleton City, located just minutes away from Springville, released a statement over social media expressing sympathy for the Conroy family.
