Deuel Creek Fire continues to burn, officials hopeful for more containment

CENTERVILLE, Utah — The Deuel Creek Fire that sparked over the weekend continues to burn but fire officials expect to contain more of the fire on Tuesday.
In an update on Tuesday morning, fire officials from the U.S. Forest Service and the Utah Department of Natural Resources said the fire was 10% contained and continued to affect 129 acres.
According to the update, helicopters, fire engines, hotshot crews, and a Type 2 hand crew were all working to contain the Deuel Creek Fire.
Utah Fire Info posted the video below on Monday showing helicopters assisting in containing the fire.
Officials asked that the public continue to avoid the area, including roads leading in and the forest closure in order to allow firefighters to continue to work.
Rugged terrain and unstable trees in the area have caused difficulty for firefighters, according to officials. Despite challenges in the area, high temperatures and low humidity, fire managers “feel good” about making progress on Tuesday to contain the fire.
Utah fire investigators asked that anyone with information or footage of the fire contact the Centerville Police Department at 801-292-8441.
The Centerville Police Department said the cause of the fire was still under investigation but said “All indications are that this fire was human-caused, the most likely source being fireworks.”
The fire sparked east of Centerville on Sunday night and prompted the evacuation of homes in the area. The city lifted the evacuation order Monday morning and canceled the Centerville City Parade and Freedom Run scheduled for the Fourth of July due to the fire.
