HELPER, Utah — Fire crews in Carbon County are on the scene of a new blaze in Spring Canyon.

According to Matt Montoya, of the Helper City Fire Department, the fire started just after 1:30 p.m. And it is roughly two miles west of Helper.

Montoya says the fire on top of a plateau cliff top, which is not accessible on the ground. A helicopter is fighting the fire from the air.

The size of the fire is roughly one acre, according to Montoya. There are no structures that are threatened by the fire, and there have been no reports of any injuries.

Montoya says lightning is the likely cause of the fire.

In a posting on Facebook, the Helper City Fire Department says the road to Spring Canyon is closed. Additionally, the road to the Helper Cemetery is also closed. Both roads are closed for air operations.

The post also says there is no threat to Helper.
