MIDVALE, Utah — An alleged stalking situation led to the stabbing of a woman and the kidnapping of her 4-year-old niece. An AMBER alert was issued Friday and the child was located shortly after.

According to a probable cause statement, police arrested 20-year-old Jonathan Moises Waunloxten-Hidalgo on suspicion of kidnapping, aggravated murder, theft of a vehicle, domestic violence in the presence of a child and the possession of a dangerous weapon.

The victim, Wuanloxten Hidalgo’s ex-girlfriend, told police that the suspect had stalked her since the pair’s break-up a month ago.

The affidavit stated when the victim arrived at her mother’s house, Moises allegedly jumped into the vehicle and immediately began stabbing her with the child in the backseat. The victim suffered five stab wounds.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim unconscious on the ground, it wasn’t until she regained consciousness and explained the situation that police issued an Amber Alert.

Police said they found the 4-year-old unharmed near the scene after a caller reported seeing a man drop her off and drive away.

Further, at approximately 3600 S. on northbound I-15, the stolen car belonging to the victim was found with alleged blood stains inside.

Officers located Moises in Ogden and after an alleged short standoff with police, he was booked into Salt Lake County Jail.
